CANO’s journey as a DJ began in December 1986, when he purchased his very first record—“I.O.U.” by Freeez—from Music Village in Newark, NJ. From that moment forward, the turntables became a defining part of his life.
In 1994, he launched Music For Your Needs, a successful mobile DJ company that brought high-energy entertainment to events across the region until 2002. After a well-deserved break from the music scene—making only special guest appearances from 2002 to 2015—CANO returned with fresh passion and a new perspective on the rapidly evolving DJ industry.
Embracing the digital era, he quickly recognized the future of DJing was changing. In 2017, alongside DJ Al P (Founder) and DJ Kojak (Co-Founder), CANO helped establish Veteran Squad Radio on the MIXLR platform—a broadcasting home for skilled DJs who live and breathe the culture. Since then, the station has continued to grow, bringing together some of the best talents in the game and expanding its audience every year.
