Angelo Figueroa—known to the music world as DJ AFX—is a seasoned turntablist whose passion for DJing began during his childhood in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Growing up in the 1960s, he was captivated by the sound of vinyl and inspired by the legendary mixmasters of WKTU New York, fueling a lifelong commitment to the craft.

By 1975, at just 16 years old, AFX launched his DJ career performing at high school dances, birthday parties, and weddings throughout his community. Using two home stereo systems as makeshift turntables, he developed early mixing skills long before terms like “beat-matching” and “transitioning” became industry standards. His creativity and determination set the foundation for decades of innovation to come.

Over the years, DJ AFX has mastered multiple genres and delivered unforgettable experiences at countless events. While based in Jacksonville, Florida for more than 30 years, he worked with and presented renowned Latin artists and orchestras—expanding his influence across dance floors and cultural communities alike. Whether performing in nightclubs, at weddings, or for large-scale productions, AFX is known for his intuitive ability to read a crowd and deliver the perfect soundtrack.

Today, at 62, DJ AFX continues to bring the same energy and passion that sparked his journey decades ago. He remains active behind the decks, constantly exploring new music and adapting to the ever-evolving DJ world. As a featured talent on Veteran Squad Radio, he continues to inspire, innovate, and represent the true essence of turntablism.
